అన్న చందాన కుశలబుద్ధితో పాముల్ని దాటుకుని,
సుగుణాత్మకాలైన నిచ్చెనలను ఎక్కి
పరమసుఖాన్ని భోగించడమే జీవుల జీవనోద్దేశ్యం.

వర్షపు చినుకు ద్వారా భూమికి చేరిన జీవి,
తండ్రి గర్భంలో మూడు నెలలు ఉండి, రేతస్సు ద్వారా తల్లి గర్భంలోకి ప్రవేశించి, అక్కడ తొమ్మిది నెలలు ఉండి ప్రసూతి వాయు తాడనం చే భూమి పైకి రావడం జరుగుతుంది.
ప్రాణమున్నంత వరకూ ఈ దేహాన్ని శరీరమని పిలుస్తారు.
‘శీర్యతేతి శరీరం’. శీర్య మంటే రోగాది ఉపద్రవాలని అర్థం. నానా విధాలైన దైహిక, మానసిక రుగ్మతలతో హింసపడే దేహాన్ని శరీరమంటారు. త్రిగుణాత్మకమైన ఈ శరీరంలో సాత్వికగుణం వల్ల దయ, క్షమ, శాంతి మొదలైనవి పుడతాయి. రజోగుణం వల్ల అనేక కర్మలను చేయడానికి బుద్ధి పుడుతుంది.
తమోగుణం వల్ల కామ, క్రోధ, లోభ, మోహాది దుర్గుణాలు పుడతాయి.

నుదుటిన వ్రాసిన విధంగా జీవించి ప్రాణవాయువు తొలగగానే శరీరం కాస్తా శవమౌతుంది. యోగ్యులైన, యోగులైనా, అయోగ్యులైనా, చనిపోయిన వారి దేహాన్ని శవమనే పిలుస్తారు.
'శం సుఖం వహతీతి గచ్ఛతీతిశవం'. యోగులు, యోగ్యుల విషయంలో 'శవం' అన్నది సుఖాన్ని కొనిపోయేదిగా ఉంటుంది. అయోగ్యుల విషయంలో సంకటభూయిష్టమై, దుర్గంధభరితమై, జంతువుల కాహారమయ్యే పాంచభౌతిక దేహంగానే మిగిలిపోతుంది.
నేడు ఉండి మరునాడు శిథిలమైపోయే ఈ శరీరాన్ని దేవాలయంగా మార్చగలగడమే సాధన.
